Are there any age restrictions?

You need to be 18 years or over.

What are the eyesight requirements?

The Visual Acuity (VA) guidelines are as follows:

  1. Corrected VA must be 6/9 binocularly, and a minimum of 6/12 in the worst eye.
  2. Minimum uncorrected vision must be better than 6/18 in the better eye and 6/24 in the worst eye.
  3. There is an upper hypermetropic level of +3.00.
  4. Vision must be binocular.
  5. Near vision must be better than N6 at 30cm.

The colour vision guidelines are as follows:

The CP4 classification is one used in the lantern test which is a test of colour vision that the army use. CP1 is the best colour vision with CP4 being the worst colour vision. The colour vision tests that we use are Isihara plates, Farnsworth D15, and Nagel anolomoscope.

Do I need to have any qualifications to be considered?

No, you don’t have to have any specific qualifications to be a fire-fighter, your skills, attributes and personality are more important.
